O VirtualBox 5.0.18 vem como uma atualização para a versão anterior, que foi anunciada no início de março deste ano. Assim, ele implementa algumas alterações para a interface gráfica do usuário(GUI), várias melhorias para hosts GNU/Linux e Windows. Também foram feitas várias pequenas correções.
O destaque dessa versão é o suporte inicial para o Kernel 4.6, que está em desenvolvimento como Release Candidate(RC). Além disso, há um melhor suporte para o Kernel Linux da série 4.5, bem como a inclusão de um driver Linux kernel graphics para dar suporte às GPUs quando o X.Org server não tiver direitos administrativos.
Além disso, o modo de tela cheia foi corrigido para o sistema operacional Mac OS X El Capitan, o tratamento da flag hotplug SATA deve funcionar agora ao utilizar o EFI, a exclusão de snapshots antigos deve funcionar muito melhor e o VirtualBox agora pode lidar com imagens de disco criptografados com controladores SCSI (Small Computer System Interface).
